Special Screening At Science Museum
Gala 2022 "King Lear - The Dragon King" was a huge success in October 2022, when the film was streamed for 4 times on YouTube. S4A annual gala performance is usually a stage production, due to Covid, Gala 2022 was adapted into a movie version, which we managed to film the whole movie in a chroma key filming studio for merely six days, with 33 cast members and 18 orchestra musicians.
Admist the loosening of Covid restrictions and to further celebrate the wonderful work of our students, we had a special screening session of this amazing film at The Hong Kong Science Museum last Saturday (18th February 2023), with around 100 participants joining us! It was truly a beautiful event with all of you. Thank to your Gala production funder, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and to to our venue supporter, Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau for making this event a success. "King Lear - The Dragon King" adpated from "King Lear" by William Shakespeare is the latest masterpiece of youth theatre brought to you by S4A, co-directed by S4A late-Artistic Director, Shiona Carson and Interim Artistic Director, Nicholas Beckwith. With a cast, orchestra, production team of over 60 peple, this film astounds us with the students' ability, talent and dedication.
Shakespeare wrote for the people and we at S4A endorse this with our work. We wish to give every child in Hong Kong an open opportunity to reach higher than they have ever reached before, and we achieve this with Shakespeare's work.
