Cultural Identity Ambassador (CIA) - Summer 2023

15 Aug 2023

Cultural Identity Ambassador Project is back with ‘Exploration’ and ‘Drama’

After two outstanding Cultural Identity Ambassador Project (CIA) in previous years, S4A hosted another CIA project in this beautiful summer, July 2023. This time, same as before, we combined ‘Exploration’ and ‘Drama’ together in this wonderful project. We aimed in having our students’ participants (9 – 15 years old) from all around the city to experience parts of Hong Kong that they’ve rarely engaged with and using the essence from all these exciting excursions experience to create their very own piece of drama performance, based on the story of one of the most famous Shakespeare’s work – Romeo and Juliet. During the first week of the project, we took the students to Tai Po, Central, Sheung Wan, Tai O, Sham Shui Po, Shek Kip Mei, Pok Fu lam, as well as Tsim Sha Tsui. Through experiencing the special elements of all these different parts of Hong Kong, they then started a drama devising week at Methodist International Church, Hong Kong, where they created their own performance, set pieces, props and costumes!

At the completion of CIA 10-days project, the students put on a magnificent performance for their family and friends! The show was creatively devised, with ‘Romeo and Juliet’ as a base, adapted with components of Tai O and Qing Dynasty. Our audience crowd of over 100 were truly amazed by our exceptional students actors/participants! Well done to all of our CIA project 2023's students!
