Walkie Talkie 2018

From the beautiful to the bizarre, this show features a powerful and charismatic cast of internationally renowned performers – clowns, bell routines, slapstick, comical routines, masked characters, musical chairs and more!

Australian director Clint Bolster teamed up with Artistic Director Shiona Carson in an interactive performance that demonstrated the essential conventions of traditional Italian commedia, dated as far back as the 16th century, as well as comic and mask performance. Exploring the ways these comic traditions continue to engage audiences, the actors skilfully improvise and interact throughout. The performance is comprised of separate yet interlinked routines that explore different characters and situations throughout the history of the theatre – looking at both the everyday and the absurd. The scenes build to a great celebration of life! It was both exhilarating and mesmerising for audiences of all ages.

Are you Asleep Yet

Performed by professional actors on imaginative sets with vibrant costumes, this unique, interactive show brought poetry to life for students. Tailored for Primary 3-6, the content is perfectly suited to captivate young minds. Each 50-minute performance accommodated up to 150 children.

In this child-friendly adventure, students followed a brother and sister as they embarked on a journey of imagination, using props, costume pieces, and creativity during a sleepless night. The performance featured a delightful mix of familiar and new poems, including some that have been popular in the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association's Speech Festival and others that have never been professionally performed before.

Radio Play School Touring Show

The touring project, which kicked off in 2015 and continued until 2022, brought the magic of Shakespeare to life for young audiences. Each year, S4A visited 15-20 primary and secondary schools, captivating around 150 students aged 8-15 at each performance. These shows featured Shakespearean classics reimagined in modern English, delivered by professional native English actors. The performances aimed to boost students' English language skills, foster personal and intellectual growth, enhance social abilities, and broaden cultural horizons.

International Arts Carnival - Giggling Is The Best Medicine

S4A has been invited to be a part of the LCSD’s ‘International Arts Carnival’ (IAC) since 2019. Thanks to the support of the springboard grant from the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Home Affairs Bureau, S4A was able to evolve into an all-round Children’s English Theatre Company in 2018.

This grant allowed us to create, develop and perform quality age specific theatre for children aged from 6 month to 18 years of age. Our work caught the attention of the IAC division of LCSD and we have since produced a kindergarten touring show called ‘The Marvellous Box’ in 2019 reaching over 2,400 children; ‘Giggling is the Best Medicine’ in 2020 which was a collection of 15 black and white short comedy skits drawing upon silent comedy greats such as Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and ‘The Goodies’ children’s comedy show as inspiration, reaching over 11,000 viewers per clip; ‘Open Wide So I Can Look Inside’ in 2021, performed to a sell out crowd of 3-6 year olds and their families at Kwai Tsing Theatre.
